Candice Miller is an animal lover who fosters multiple and various kinds of creatures. The Oregon native opens her home to any domestic animal that needs her help. Along with the four human members of her family, she also has six rescue dogs, five chickens, a tortoise, and whatever creature she was fostering at the moment.
One of her memorable experiences in rescuing dogs was with a frail newborn pup that she named Penny. The passionate foster mom went through an emotional rollercoaster with this tiny pooch, but in the end, it was all worth it.
Unwanted
Penny was part of a litter of five puppies that came from a young dog. The dog mom got pregnant before she was mature enough to care for her own babies. That is why when the litter was born, her maternal instincts did not kick in, and she rejected her puppies.
The young dog refused to care for her litter, and three of the newborn pups died within three days. The remaining two grew weaker as the hours passed, and when Candice learned about this, she immediately volunteered to take them home and give them a chance to survive. Unfortunately, one of the pups perished while they were on their way to her house.
Lone survivor
Candice was even more determined to help Penny get stronger. She devoted all her time to her care. The kind lady kept her warm, continually fed the tiny puppy, and stayed by her side all throughout the day. With her dedication, the small pooch grew stronger as each day passed.
With a loving family surrounding her, Penny turned into the sweetest and most adorable dog that anyone has probably met. She is constantly smiling and leads a very active life. The friendly dog loves playing with her pack, regardless of their type of creature. She loves her life so much, and it shows in every photo of her.
